Keeping children safe after war in the UK

SUPPORTING CHILDREN IN THEIR NEW HOME

Every child arrives in the UK with unlimited opportunities. We help them make the most of them.

WHAT IS CHILD POVERTY IN THE UK?

30% of children in the UK live in poverty
33% of children living in poverty struggle with education
23% in England are losing 5.

HOW ARE WE HELPING TO TACKLE CHILD POVERTY IN THE UK?

Our work includes:

  • working in schools and helping children into school in England and Wales;
    working in schools and helping children to learn in school in Scotland;
    sports funding;
    helping in conflict situations with Social Services;
    in communities – ensuring local children get the support they need, access to education, access to sport;
    improving parents’ learning support skills after moving from Ukraine to Poland and the UK;
    Children’s communities: preventing problems;
    Building Blocks: helping with the basics of design;
    Children’s Winter Plan: supporting children from low-income families.

Please support these programmes, listed above.

In England, Scotland and Wales, we are working to bridge the gap between Ukrainian children and poorer and wealthier classmates. We bring families and schools together to help the poorest children, creating a supportive home environment and advocating for children’s futures.

HOW OTHER ORGANISATIONS WORK IN THE UK:

The Crisis Grants programme reaches thousands of homes, providing early education kits, supermarket vouchers and household goods to families most in need. Community support campaigns are organized and we have called on the government to help families through the difficult winter period. Tasks carried out by Savannah and Gabriel Save The Children 🙂 UK Foundation, information is available online.
